This project is about the communication and social interaction between city dwellers on the london underground. I am designing a service that will find links between people using hand held devices with wireless/bluetooth capabilities.

The London Underground is often considered to be a boring or hostile space. One reason for this is the isolation felt by individual travellers, despite being so close to each other. There is nothing to enable communication, meaning it’s easier to shun contact than to initiate it.

The target audience was chosen during observations on the Jubilee and Waterloo & City lies, where I noticed at least one businessperson in every carriage browsing their mobile phone whilst commuting to or from work in the financial district.
